The first initiative is the Basket Raffle that takes place very year. The grade 8 classes will be working together to create the best basket collaboration EVER!! Our class is beginning to discuss themes we would like to create for our basket. Once we have decided on a theme, we will ask families to donate small items to add to our basket that will be raffled off school wide. Looking forward to putting together a great basket for our school fundraising!
The second initiative is a school wide Food Drive. The food drive will ask students to bring in a non perishable food item to donate to the Barrie food drive. This service is very dependent on this time of year for school involvement as more and more families in our community are accessing this imperative service. Thank you to all that donate to those in need!
A new initiative our class will be participating in is a Shoe-box Campaign. In recent weeks our class has been researching current issues in First Nation Communities. We have adopted a shoe-box campaign that will send a box to a Northern Reserve for a First Nation child in need. We will collaboratively add items for a 9-12 year old boy, so students are encouraged to include small items that this demographic would need or enjoy.
Some ideas for children in this age group are listed in the blue box and the "I Love First Peoples" Flyer is below.
