Finger Print Art
Our finger prints are the only truly unique component of our identity that is unlike anyone else. I like having students explore this idea through fingerprint making and positive goal statements.
PlayDough Colour Wheel
In the intermediate grades we look more closely at colour theory of primary, secondary and tertiary colours. As an added element of kinesthetic fun, I provide students with play dough of only the primary colours and through colour blending they create a colour wheel to demonstrate their understanding.
Tree Art
We can learn a lot from trees. They are strong, have roots to keep them grounded and branches that always reach for the sky. I link this art activity with the novel Speak, by Laurie hans Anderson and students enjoy the connections.
CitySkyline
Students research a city skyline they are interested in. They sketch and paint using water colours.
Digital Art
Students brainstormed words that described themselves. They then created a "tagxedo" to digitally represent their uniqueness.
