Digital Citizenship is an important component to a 21st century learner. Technology is a relevant piece of their everyday lives and for a vast majority of them the main piece in which they connect with the world around them. I have always felt it was important to move with tech as opposed to against it and have sought to ingrain a sense of responsibility and ownership in my students for their digital footprint. In class this week we focused don a variety of videos that talked about being possible for what you contribute to the online world. copy write laws and social media etiquette. It is my hope that students take a the big picture when responding to these texts as being a good person online and real life is equally important and to follow the rules and laws accordingly. Many students are often surprised how the laws become increasingly more relevant as they age and yes things like criminal charges can happen as a result of abusing their social privileges. Students are currently writing a digital citizenship response that will be submitted to the google classroom by Thursday. This assignment can be accessed through the students Google Drive account. It was a collaborative assignment between two students and the hope is they will delegate the roles and responsibilities to get the package complete.
